National Honor Society

Founded in 1921, the National Honor Society (NHS) is one of the oldest student recognition organizations in the United States. Missouri Virtual Academy (MOVA) is proudly recognized by the NHS for having an outstanding high school.

NHS Membership Requirements

To be eligible for membership, students must be a sophomore, junior, or senior and have completed at least one semester at MOVA in good standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0. The faculty council will review all applicants.

Once a candidate is voted into the NHS, they must attend monthly meetings, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, uphold all school rules, and complete the minimum amount of service hours each semester.

Becoming a member of the MOVA NHS is based on four criteria: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

The four main goals of the NHS are to:

Create enthusiasm for scholarship

Develop character in the students of secondary schools

Simulate a desire to render service

Promote leadership

With an emphasis on service, NHS members must complete a minimum number of service hours each semester. Through the organization, students develop character and leadership skills while maintaining high standards in scholarship.
